Calling All Board Members! Join Us at CSDC’s Governance Summit Next Month!

As a charter school board member, you may wonder what role you should play in improving your school’s relationship with your authorizer, or you may want to learn more about the Brown Act, or even find out if you are the right person to speak to the legislature on a matter related to charter schools.

If you are curious about any of these topics, or if you’re interested in learning more about strategic planning, or the new board member-focused resources CSDC has recently made available, then reserve your spot in CSDC’s 2024 Governance Summit. The Governance Summit is held during the 2024 CSDC Conference and is a daylong workshop dedicated to strengthening charter school board governance. The summit is often attended by school administrators, and is an excellent opportunity for board members to deepen their understanding of critical issues related to governance.

This year, the Governance Summit presenters will cover topics on effective strategic planning, responding to authorizer overreach, advocacy for board members, and will also provide an overview Brown Act training. In addition, CSDC’s Caitlin O'Halloran Hellar will walk attendees through some of the newly-released, adaptable governance resources.

The summit is interactive: each presentation will include a workbook for use by participants for note-taking, and there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and create an action plan to strengthen your school’s governance strategy.

Join us on Wednesday, November 20 from 9:45AM-4:30PM for a day of learning. Participation in the summit includes lunch. Please note: all workshops and summits at the CSDC Conference require a reservation even if you have already registered for the conference. You can reaccess your registration and reserve your spot today.

We hope to see you in Sacramento next month!
