AB 2499 Takes Effect January 1, 2025: Discrimination and Paid Sick Leave for Victims of Violence

AB 2499 (Schiavo) amends several sections of California law to provide enhanced protections for employees who are victims of certain acts of violence, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and other qualifying acts. Specifically, it ensures that victims or their family members are not discriminated or retaliated against when taking leave from work for specific safety-related reasons.
